Can’t contain my excitement! So, a while back, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by the legendary Alberto Cairo. And now it’s a part of his latest book!

Back in 2015, during my days at Columbia Journalism School, I stumbled upon Cairo’s first book, “The Functional Art” as a mandatory reading for one of the classes I was taking.

Fast forward a few months, I found myself interning at the Palm Beach Post in Florida while Cairo was a professor at University of Miami. I was trying data and data viz things, and being in a smaller city, missed the opportunity to learn from people in a field I cared about.

So I did the most obvious thing - I drove from West Palm Beach to Miami to attend a dataviz event that Cairo was organising at the university. I went, attended the event, heard smart people talk, took some notes and came back home. I don’t think I spoke to anyone.

Cut to eight years later, and I’m in his book! I feel so honoured to get to share this space with so many people I respect and am inspired by!
